Halloween Horror Nights 2009: Ripped From the Silver Screen!
I don't want to say that I called it, but I will, and I did. It was just revealed today that Halloween Horror Nights 2009 will be called "Ripped From the Silver Screen!". The three themes of houses that have been revealed so far are; Saw, The Wolfman, and Chucky from Child's Play. I can't wait to see what the other 4 or 5 themes will be, especially if the are all movie themed. They better not be redos of Freddy, Jason, and Leather Face again!

Gourd Queen's Scream Award
Mr. Macabre over at Mr. Macabre’s Hallowe’en Cerebrations bestowed me with “GourdQueens Scream Award”. I would like to first thank Mr. Macabre, The Gourd Queen (who I had to search for, and I now follow her blog), My wife Jen, Bucky & Byrdie (my kids), my fingers and brain who without I wouldn’t be able to blog, the academy, and all the fans because without you none of this would be possible
"This award is to be shared with anyone whose blog you just love. Whether it's their art, their interests, the things they share, you just simply love to visit their blog!
This is what you do:
1~Accept the award then post it on your blog with the name and link of the person's blog who shared this award with you.
2~Explain the award.
3~Then share the award with at least 10 blogs that make you SCREAM! Please tell what makes their blog so special to you. Be sure to let them know they have received the award. Also you can share this award again if you run across more bloggers that make you SCREAM!"
Dark Destinations
Halloween Addict
Nickols Manor
She's Off Her Rocker
Sexy Witch
The Obscure Hollow

Zombie Cupcake
My list would have been longer but Mr. Macabre and I have similar tastes and he already awarded some of my other picks. All of these blogs are blogs that I peruse often, if not daily. If you’re not already reading these blogs you should check them out. Blog awards are a love and hate thing for me. I love to receive them of course, but I hate having to pick whom to pass it on to. I like all the blogs I read, that’s why I read them in the first place! Thank you again Mr. Macabre.

Halloween Horror Nights 2009
The dates for the Halloween Horror Nights 19 were announced today with out much fanfare. The web site shows no sign of a theme yet (I'm still sticking with my two house theme predictions) , but there is a pretty cool "Behind The Screams" section with a little sample of props, concept drawings, and videos from each of the previous 18 years of Halloween Horror Nights.
Here are the 23 dates for this year's
Sept. 25, 26,
Oct. 1, 2, 3, 4, 8, 9 10, 11, 15, 16, 17, 18, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 28, 29, 30 & 31
See you there!

Flashback: Attack Of The Spiders
This was the first year (2006) my wife and I decorated our own home for Halloween. It seemed so cool at the time, looks pretty whack now. The victim was named Chet after a neighbor we don't really care to much for.
We put Tide on Chet and lit him from below with a black light, ohhhh we're scary!
I had strobe lights flashing inside the windows so the spiders were back lit.
Look at the attention to detail, the spider is actually spinning web on to Chet! Wick, Wick, Whack!
Frog on the Pumpkin this post is for you :)

Is Avon Really the Umbrella Corporation?
Avon has this new product
Which looks exactly like the T-virus from the Umbrella Corporation of Resident Evil fame. It is "Injectable-grade facial filler, now in a Serum. This super concentrated serum has 3X the level of injectable-grade hyaluronic acid".
Ahh what did you just say?
Here's a picture of the T-virus
Is Avon Really the Umbrella Corporation? You be the judge, but I'm not letting my wife bring that stuff in our house.

Slow Week I Guess
Sorry for being so off topic for so many days, but I haven't had much Halloween stuff to blog about this week. I did do a little work on two props tonight, a zombie and a minion. I hope to get some more prop work done tomorrow, but I have an ethics paper due Monday so that's my first priority. Maybe I'll post some pictures of them pre-Mache'.
I bought the new Rancid album (Let the Dominoes Fall) on Tuesday when it came out and have been enjoying it. I got the extra fancy version that included the studio album, an acoustic album, a making of the album DVD, 3 mini posters, and a set of four guitar picks. It lists at like $24, and Best Buy had it marked for only $14.99 when the regular version was marked at $12.99, and then when they rang it up it was on sale for $12.99. Can't beat that! Anyway I'm liking the record a lot, haven't listened to the acoustic version but I bet its good too.
It must have been Iron Maiden day today, because VH1 Classic was showing all kinds of Maiden stuff which rocks!
"Throw up your Irons!"
Can't think of anything else exciting to write about . . . . . . .

Sorry it's so shaky, it kept popping up a low battery warning on the view/touch screen and Big Momma was watching me from another tree, so between the two it ended up shaky. I promise I'm shaking, it's not me shaking the tree. They sure are hungry little devils, we watched both Big Momma and Big Poppa bring them bugs and stuff constantly for an hour or so before we got hungry and went inside.

We've Got A little Family In Our Lemon Tree
As I was taking these pictures Jen, my wife saw "Big Momma" coming back with food for her babies, so we retreated to the screen porch to watch her. As we sat in the porch watching, a second Mockingbird landed on the fence and to our surprise flew right in to the lemon tree and the nest. It must have been "Big Poppa", he is much thinner then the female. We're like two little kids, when we get home we rush outside with the dogs and our camera to check on our new little family.
