Unplug The Drug

We cancelled our cable today and tonight is the last night we will have cable television. It was such a rip off anyway, I won't miss it much. The plan is to have more time to do stimulating things like reading, crafty stuff (props), writing, playing in the yard, watching movies, working out on the Wii Fit, and just spending time together.

I hope we don't kill each other!

very awesome, congrats on taking a most admirable step towards a better life! I hate watching tv, though I watch movies all night, but when I do, its only the worst garbage imaginable. In fact, we have Rock of Love Charm School on as I am typing this. Its that bad. Can you send them over to my place after?

I don't watch all that much tv these days but i'd still find it hard to do away with it. You're a stronger person than I! As Carl said, it's a very admirable move. Congrats.

And Carl, don't feel bad, the girlfriend and I spent at least an hour tonight watching Daisy of Love!

I only watch a few favourite shows and have often considered cancelling or at least reducing my cable. But I think my kids might kill me :D

When we moved a few years ago, it took a week to get the cable hooked up and we were not able to receive ANY channels without it. No TV for a week. I thought I would be fine with that but felt strangely disconnected from the world. Weird.

Way to go. I would get rid of our (ugly) satellite dish if husband would let me!!

If I do watch a TV show, it is usually after it has been out and is on DVD - no evil commercials! (Currently watching Carnivale.)

Way to go, what an inspiration! I am definately forwarding your blog to husband. :)

BTW - good luck with that marrige/spending-more-time-together thing - remember what doesn't kill you make you stronger.... :D

Oh man! We didnt have it for years and JUST got it a month ago! I watch True Blood, and thats about it...my hub is a huge sports and baseball fan, so, that stuff is on a lot. I don't want my kids to become little Disney consumer drones. I think its GREAT you cancelled! waste of time!

We live without cable. It's good for you. :)

I hope it means I see you more on your blog, as well.

Diane - I'm not that big of a TV watcher anymore either, so this will be much easier for me then my wife.

Carl - Those are the shows that I give my wife shit for watching, so much brainless crap. But I'll admit it is hard to look away.

Johnny - The cable is still on till tomorrow (don't know why) I just watched the last 10 minutes of Daisy of Love with my wife. Poor Ricky Rackman reduced to a sidekick for a reality TV celebretard!

Spirit - We get 2 channels on the Antenna so I can still watch World News Tonight and I have the Internet to help me stay connected to the outside world.

Frog Queen - We've been together for over 12 years and married for 2 1/2 so we can't get to much closer without sharing an organ or something!
;P

Brandi - I just got True Blood season one, but I've been saving it for after we pulled the plug.

Carrie - I love that movie too. I agree about it being a waste of time. It will take us a little while to acclimate to no TV, but we'll be fine with movies, music, books, and each other for entertainment.
