After being forced to wait nearly three years since I first saw the trailer for this movie I'm posting these eight desktop wallpapers in celebration that I (we) only have to wait one more day to see Trick r' Treat!


These top two are by far my favorites. I have used them both on my computer and phone as wallpapers.

Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookies

I am reposting these from last year because everyone liked them, also I have altered the amounts on the spices because originally they were not spicy enough. Enjoy everyone, let me know if you make some.

Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookies

2 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg
1 teaspoon ground cloves
2 eggs
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup canola or corn oil
1 cup canned pumpkin
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup chocolate chips



Position a rack in the middle of the oven. Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F. Line two baking sheets with parchment paper and butter the paper. Stir the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt and spices together in a medium bowl and set aside. In a large bowl, using an electric mixer on medium speed beat the eggs and sugar until smooth and lightened in color, about 1 minute. Stop the mixer and scrape the sides of the bowl as needed during mixing. On low speed, mix the oil, pumpkin, and vanilla until blended. Mix in the flour mixture to incorporate it. Mix in the chips.

Using an ice cream scoop with a 1/4-cup capacity, scoop mounds of the dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing the cookies at least 2 1/2-inches apart. You could also simply use a 1/4-cup measuring cup if you don’t have a scoop. Use a thin metal spatula to smooth and flatten the rounds.

Bake the cookies one sheet at a time until the tops feel firm and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out dry, about 16 minutes. Cool them on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then use a wide metal spatula to transfer the cookies to a wire rack to cool completely.

I first saw this image over at Haunt Style, but it originally came from this post at Kevin Kidney's blog. What an amazing creation. I wish I had a Hat Box Ghost of any size, but I guess for now this desktop wallpaper will have to do.

The Best Halloween compilation CD's Ever

Jason Willis of the completely wonderful but now mostly defunct blog "Scar Stuff" created these two amazing Halloween compilation CD's that he originally gave away as Halloween gifts. Although many of the musical files that Jason so kindly shared have been pulled down off his blog, these two gems remain. I found his blog long after its heyday, but I used it as a jumping off point to search online for copies of the albums he had previously shared. 12 and a half Gigs later, I have quite the Halloween music and sound effect collection. Even with out all the files being available on his blog, it still continues to be a great resource for information about Halloween music and sound effects.

Jason's two compilations are very well done and ready to use for your Halloween shindig, I am actually going to be using both at my Halloween party this year.So check out Spook Party and Ghoul-Arama you'll be glad you did, I am.

Countdown to Halloween - October 1st

If you've never heard of George Van Orsdel's Monster Spookshow Radio then you are seriously missing out on the finest of spooky, horror, and Halloween themed music on the Internet. George Van Orsdel creates a new Podcast monthly for our listening pleasure, and when I say pleasure I mean it. I haven't gone a day since I discovered his website without listening to at least part of an episode of Monster Spookshow Radio. These are the most killer "mix tape" style podcasts I have ever heard. He combines spooky, horror, and Halloween themed music with scary noises, movie trailers, sound bites with the precision of Baron von Frankenstein! He just posted this years Halloween Spooktacular!

So what are you waiting for? GO Get it! And leave the poor guy a comment so he knows we're listening.

It's Countdown Time

So this is my first year to participate in Countdown to Halloween. I figure I'll be able to keep up, since I basically have a Halloween blog all year long anyway. I think what I would like to do with my version of the countdown is try to present things to my readers that they can view, create, listen to, cook up, use in some way or fashion. It may be a poem or riddle, maybe a video, a desktop wallpaper, a Halloween recipe, or possibly a link to some hidden Halloween treasure. I don't even know what it will be until it happens, just like my blog always is, random and by the seat of my pants!
