Babysitter Wanted

Don't be fooled by the lame title, this movie is not what you may think it is. I don't want to say too much and spoil it, but we were really surprised by this film, and really enjoyed it. It's not the best movie I've ever seen, but it's definitely not the same old' shit "they" keep remaking. We were lead down a somewhat familiar trail, only to be spun around and sent much to our enjoyment in an entirely unexpected direction!
3 ½ out of 4, enjoyed its creativity and how it seemed fresh in an old school way.

Drag Me to Hell

"The Return of True Horror"
Looks like it should be pretty good.

Halloween Horror Nights 2009

So the word is out that Universal Orlando and Hollywood will both be adding “Jigsaw” from the very popular "Saw" movies as a theme of a house at Halloween Horror Nights in 2009. Here’s the interview where Mark Burg the producer of Saw talks about making a deal with Universal to bring Jigsaw and Saw to Halloween Horror Nights.I'd also like to go on record today by saying that I predict that "The Wolfman" will also be a theme for a house.I can't wait!

Witch Mountain

We went to see "Race to Witch Mountain" tonight at the Silver Moon Drive In. We enjoyed it. It isn't a remake as some people are saying; it is its own new story, with new characters. It's nothing fancy, just a good ol' Disney family flick. The story was a touch more involved then the originals, much more action then the first two films for sure. Dwayne Johnson does a good job as Jack Bruno the cab driver that gets stuck helping the kids. If you enjoyed the original you'll like this one for sure. One of the key moments for me, (a movie geek) was the two cameos by Kim Richards and Ike Eisenmann, their characters are named "Tina" and "Sheriff Antony" (originally they were Tia and Tony). I didn't realize it was Kim Richards till after I saw Ike Eisenmann, because he was instantly recognizable. Nice for a family trip to the movies, as well as a nice addition to the trilogy.

2 and 3/4 out of 4, for good ol' Disney family fun!

Jeepers Creepers 3: Cathedral

Set 23 years after the previous film, we follow Trish Jenner (Gina Phillips), who is now a mother. Realizing that the return of the Creeper is just around the corner, she begins to have terrible recurring nightmares of her own teenage son confronting the creature and suffering the same fate as her deceased brother. Now a rich and powerful woman, she's determined to finally put an end to the Creeper once and for all.

I can't find a release date for this yet, but it seems like most of the talk about it came from last summer (2008). I'm excited to see this third installment; the other two films were fresh and fun.
“Jeepers Creepers, where’d you get those peepers? Jeepers Creepers, where’d you get those eyes?”

Shoes That Nightmares Are Made Of . . .

Nike “Freddy Krueger” SB Dunk Low tops were supposed to be part of the 2007 “Horror Pack”, shoes based on A Nightmare on Elm Street, Friday the 13th, and Dawn of the Dead. They were never officially released, although many pairs of "samples" made it into the online market place, and tons of Chinese “knock-offs are also available.

I want these, like Freddy wants souls!

The Gate

Three young children accidentally release a horde of nasty, pint-sized demons from a hole in a suburban backyard. What follows is a classic battle between good and evil as the three kids struggle to overcome a nightmarish hell that is literally taking over the Earth.

I couldn’t have said it better myself. I think this was Stephen Dorff’s very first film role. It isn’t exactly scary, but it’s a great 80’s horror complete with heavy metal, demons, and bad hairdos!
I remember this one fondly from the old VHS rental days, and in my opinion the story still holds up pretty well today. The Gate definitely gets the creativity award for best use of a “Barbie” doll as a weapon. I’m giving this one some old school love, 3 out of 4.
